Katie and I decided to do a Prezi for our project. We thought it would be a fun and different way to do it but it was harder than we had anticipated. Our main point was to show how literacy has evolved over the past 100 years. We did not completely finish it because we wanted the peer feedback on how it was going because we were concerned with the flow and if it was making sense from one point to the next.We just want all the feedback we can have before we turn the final paper in because it would be a lot harder to try and go back through the Prezi with all the information so we wanted to get input first, thanks!

While going through, and looking at Madison and Katie's paper, I believe that they were trying to show how just important many literacies can be, when it comes to steering us into the pathway for our education. They use schooling as a big literacy, and explain how it wasn't always there as a sponsor, but how having it now is a great benefit to society. I think the way they present this information is very creative and unique. Another thing I really thought was working well, but maybe you could add a little more of, was the use of specific dates to back up each sponsor. I know you said, you weren't quite done yet, but maybe when you go back and add some more literacies, try to relate them back to yourselves like you did with school, and explaining just how important having each one is. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this paper (or project)! Nice job to both of you!

ReplyDeleteMadison and Katie show through their prezi presentation and cover letter, how literacy has become more readily available over the past 100 years, and how school was the largest literacy sponsor they each had and why it was so important. They gave statistics for % of people completing college, and how many schools their are.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy prezi presentations, past teachers of mine use them and they are difficult to use, so nice job breaking out of the standard of a website or powerpoint. However, I felt that it was a little short, maybe add more supporting facts and a summary your point and tie in your facts. I liked your idea that schooling is the largest literacy, however I feel your statistics didn't support each other very well, your statistic for how many schools there were in 1940-2010 seemed not as dramatic as you'd hope for this type of presentation(maybe try a different statistic). When you discuss the past 100 years talk about the time period and how this affects schooling in literacy, for example in the early 1900s their wasnt a need for people to go to college because big corporate businesses were less apparent. Overall I liked your project and how you used prezi it gave a good look and fluidity to how the information was presented. It is heading in the right direction.
